Meet the Coaches

Coach TONDALEYA : Tondayleya is a former high school and UCA all-star cheerleader who also cheered at Howard University in Washington, DC. She began her cheerleading career as one of the first Wheaton Rams Cheerleaders in the late 1970’s. She began her coaching career at the junior high level which has expanded to the recreational and high school levels. She is a former Cheer Director for the Bartlett Raiders and currently serves on the BGYFL Cheer Committee. Tonda’s fun yet technical coaching skills resulted in her cheerleaders naming her “Suzi Spirit”! Tonda has helped teams gain recreational state titles and place in the top tree. Since joining DuPage Cheer, Tonda has enjoyed the role as Cheer Director, choreographer, and tumbling coach. Tonda is USASF Certified level 1-4 and is ASEP Certified.

Coach PIERRE: Pierre’s coaching career started as a cheerleader himself for 8 years. He has been coaching cheer for 6 years and although has been an athlete for many other sports, swears that cheer is the toughest sport around! He is very knowledgeable in the sport of cheerleading with his strengths lying in stunting and tumbling. He can teach all aspects of stunting, including partner stunts, and can coach and spot back handsprings to full twisting layouts. Pierre has been a DCA coach since the very beginning working with all our reams from our Junior L2 to our Senior L4 teams. Pierre is also a cheer and dance choreographer and has choreographed several high schools and all star teams. Pierre is USASF Certified in level 1-4.

Coach RYAN: Ryan started to teach himself gymnastics after 8th grade and then was on his high school gymnastics team all 4 years in high school and was captain his senior year. He cheered at Downers Grove South High School for 3 years and all 3 years he was on the team, they qualified for IHSA state preliminaries and finals. He also cheered for 2 years on Super CDA’s all star team where his team took 3rd at Nationals as Senior Co-Ed Level 3. Ryan then moved on to cheer a semester at College of DuPage as well as on our own DCA Senior L4 short season. Ryan is currently attending College of DuPage. Ryan can coach cheerleaders, gymnasts and power tumblers of all ages and can spot standing and running tumbling including full twisting layouts and front tumbling too. He likes to demonstrate what skill he is trying to teach as he feels it helps some students visualize what they need to be doing during that skill. His favorite part about working at DuPage Cheer is that he gets to help kids build character as well as teach what he loves to do all under a roof of a compassionate workplace.

Coach ANDY: Andy started gymnastics when he was a freshman at Prospect High School. He went on to compete for the University of Illinois at Chicago where he helped win a conference championship as a team in 2004 and was individual conference floor champion in 2005. After college he went on training to compete at the USA qualifier meet at the Olympic Training Center for the VISA Championships. He has been coaching for 13 years and has coached all ages. Andy has coaches both the men and women’s gymnastic teams at UIC, the University of Michigan women’s summer gymnastics camp and FlipFest. Aside from coaching, Andy performs for the Chicago Bulls acrobatic dunk team “Benny and the Elevators” as well as the Chicago Sky acrobatic dunk team “The Sky Squad”. Andy’s favorite part about coaching at DuPage Cheer is being able to share his knowledge of tumbling with girls to make their tumbling and the sport of cheerleading safer. He also enjoys seeing the progress of his students and the joy on their faces when they get a skill they have been working on. Andy is a positive role model for his students not only for the sport of tumbling but as a coach for life. He strongly believes he is able to do this because his faith in God. Keep on flippin, dudes!

Coach TRAVIS: Travis started coaching gymnastics just 2 years ago and although never a tumbler or cheerleader, is one of the fastest learners around. He considers himself a student of both cheer and tumbling and has learned proper technique from the great coaches he surrounds himself with here at DuPage Cheer. He was a varsity athlete in high school with swimming and water polo so is able to take the lessons of heart and determination to succeed from his experiences and bring them to power tumbling. In the past he was an assistant coach for a boys gymnastics team and also has worked with our own DCA Junior L3 and Senior L4 teams. Travis can coach standing and running tumbling at all levels. When he is not coaching at DuPage Cheer, he is a member of the Chicago Bulls Acrobatic Dunk Team and also enjoys spending every moment he can with his lovely wife Sarah. Travis’ favorite part of working at DuPage Cheer is the ability to encourage each child to become a better athlete and grow as a person. He considers himself a fun-loving and motivated person fueled by his faith. Living out the Christian walk is something he strives to do in everything he does and is happy he can do that here at DuPage Cheer.

Coach VINCE: Vince graduated from Illinois State University with a mathematics degree and has a full time job for an insurance company as an underwriter. He also is on the Chicago Bulls acrobatic dunk team. Vince actually was in a real circus from 2004-2009 and started with no experience. He eventually became president of this circus and joined a tumbling team in 2009. He coached at 2 other tumbling gyms while in college and now coaches mostly advanced classes a few nights a week. He can spot any skill he knows how to perform including fulls and double tucks. He still likes to tumble as much as his body can handle and you can often find him on the rod floor inbetween classes.

Coach DIONTE: (COMING SOON)

Coach GUY: Guy is owner and head tumbling coach at DuPage Cheer. He was a gymnast at Wheaton North High School willing 7th in state his senior year on floor. Guy coached at a private gym for 10 years coaching everything from boy’s team, beginner to advanced gymnastics, tumbling, and his specialty - preschool gymnastics. He took a little break to go into business for himself and then eventually found his calling to combine his love for power tumbling with his business background and opened DuPage Cheer & Power Tumbling. He wanted to open a gym that focuses solely on the power tumbler and be a place where cheerleaders could learn tumbling skills in a safe and fun environment. He considers DuPage Cheer the “cheerleader’s gym” and is here to support the recreational cheerleader, the high school cheerleader, the athlete that just wants to tumble as well as be a gym that has a nurturing and skill-developing all star team. His vision is to treat every child and parent like family and to treat you like he would want to be treated. Although Coach Guy is pretty much always at the gym, when he is not, he loves spending time with his wife, Lisa and his 3 children: Cameron, Clayton, and Finley who all pretty much live at the gym with him.
